Wow, forty-six tracks on a pair of CDs, that's more material than I ever expected to find on this double CD from this diverse balladeer.A mix of country, rock and roll and honky-tonk songs is what you will find on this retrospective look at Gram Parsons' music. Parsons is considered by many to be the godfather of the Americana music movement.Although Parsons didn't have a huge fan base while he was alive he was revered my many of his contemporary peers.Parsons recorded with several noteworthy bands including the International Submarine Band, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Bros, and his own band, The Fallen Angels who eventually joined forces with Emmylou Harris.More than a few musicians have recorded Parsons' material since his passing. Some of my favorite tracks on this CD include: "In My Hour Of Darkness" featuring Emmylou Harris and Linda Rondstadt, "Do Right Women," "Wild Horses", "To Love Somebody" and "Still Feeling Blue," just to name a few. Gram Parsons died prematurely at the age of twenty-seven, of a broken heart along with a lethal blend of morphine and tequila. Parsons created beautiful music that will be listened to by several generations to come.
