Apocalypse Now Redux

It's been twenty – two years since Apocalypse Now first appeared in theatres everywhere. Considered by many to be among the most extraordinary war movies ever created.  So, if you enjoyed the original "Apocalypse Now," rejoice, Apocalypse Now Redux has arrived with an extra fifty – three minutes of footage tagged on proudly by director Francis Ford Coppola. Apocalypse Now turned out to be a hugely successful film monetarily and artistically, despite Coppola's predictions of dismal box office returns prior to the film's release. Coppola was quoted as saying; "ultimately, my aim with Apocalypse Now Redux was to achieve a richer, fuller and more textured film experience that, as with the original, lets audiences feel what Vietnam was like; the immediacy, the insanity, the exhilaration, the horror, the sensuousness and the moral dilemma of America's most surreal and nightmarish war." The additional footage includes: the oft-discussed French Plantation scene, the playboy playmate sequences, never before seen Marlon Brando scenes and new footage of the navy patrol boat approaching at the onset of the mission up the river. Redux shines from beginning to end and has finally been completed. Find solace in an air conditioned theatre near you and re-visit this finely crafted three-hour plus saga.
