The multi talented Cassandra Wilson graces us with a soulful album entitled "Belly Of The Sun." Labeled as one of the top jazz artists of the 1990's, she's still got that deep rich voice filled with emotion and still as enjoyable to listen to. Aside from being blessed with a distinctive voice, she can also play the piano and the guitar. Her style ranges from acoustic blues to folk music with a touch of R&B. There are some gems on this album such as "The Weight," a classic written by Robbie Robertson where Cassandra captures the essence of the song, adding her own unique sound to it. "The Waters Of March" is a delightful jazz piece displaying the singer's versatile vocals. James Talyor's "Only A Dream In Rio" has a cool acoustic guitar accompanying Cassandra's soulful voice. The amazingly talented India Arie teams up with Cassandra and Rhonda Richmond on the remarkable "Just Another Parade." India & Cassandra sound great together and sing with much emotion. Bob Dylan's "Shelter from The Storm" is also a worthy listen, so is "Show Me A Love."
