Charlie Musselwhite

One Night in America is a reflection of Charlie Musselwhite's experiences in Memphis. If you like country music blended with a touch of blues, this album might be something of interest. "Trail of Tears" gets the album off to a toe tappin' start with Charlie also playing the harmonica to accompany his vocals. According to Charlie "Cold Grey Light of Dawn" may sound country but it was actually written by the famous R&B singer Ivory Joe hunter. The vocalist goes on to say that this song reminds him of the awful times he had when drinking. "In A Town This Size" is kind of bland. "One Time one Night" is upbeat. "Big River" was written by Johnny Cash and Charlie gives a good performance on this track. "Ain't it Time" mellows things out with a slow backdrop of instrumentation. "I'll Meet You There" is a decent effort as well.
