Idlewild @ The Café Campus

Idlewild's performance at the Café Campus probably began at about the same time as Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band wrapped up their final encores at The Bell Center. Idlewild provided a high energy show that absorbed their screaming fans. The Campus' small stage seemed to provide plenty of room for these five Scottish lads, that include: Roddy Woomble (Lead Vocals), Rod Jones (Guitar), Allan Stewart (Guitar), Gavin Fox (Bass) and Colin Newton (Drums). Amid the venue's soft lighting, the band blasted away high decibel power chords that kept the crowd on their feet and dancing all night long. Even the softer tunes like Roseability, captivated their audience. Idlewild more than redeemed themselves from their previous lack lustre performance in Montreal, about two years ago. Close to the end of the show the audience still didn't get their fix of Idlewild's magic and they demanded more, the band obliged the packed house with one more song, the title track from The Remote Part (Remote Part, Scottish Fiction). Idlewild's determination and passion has paid off, as they will tour with a couple of well established bands this summer. Front man, Roddy Wooble's vocals were dead on and he serves as an integral part in this up and coming band. Next time around the confines of the Café Campus will probably be too small to contain the next generation of fans that will flock to see this group.
