The legendary Jaco Pastorius earned the title of world's greatest bassist. This South Florida native was raised in a very religious family but always kept his focus on music and sports. His musical tastes were along the lines of Jimi Hendrix and Elvis. Jaco's modern jazz style is innovative and you can tell that he really felt the music he played. While his life was also tainted by darker issues until his final days, it does not take away from the fact that he is still considered a musical genius. "Punk Jazz" is a double CD set of his greatest works and includes six rare tracks making their North American debut. On the first disc fans will enjoy songs like "Batterie" feat. Pat Methany, Bruce Ditmas and Paul Bley, "Las Olas" feat. Flora Purim and a live 1981 version of "Punk Jazz." Disc two offers up songs like "3 Views Of A Secret," a live 1982 version of "Invitation," and "Liberty City." A must have for fans.
