Jesse Harris won the 2003 Grammy for writing Norah Jones' smash hit "Don't Know Why." This is Harris's first major label release and I hope many more will follow. Interestingly, Harris' writing style is recognizable and distinct; you can hear his influence behind Norah Jones' voice. This album contains various styles of music, from country, poppy-songs to jazz infused tunes. Harris has a special knack for writing interesting lyrics alongside diverse melodies. Norah Jones appears on two tracks ("All My Life" and "If You Won't"). The band Harris used in the studio is a whose who of prestigious studio and performing artists, they include: Tony Scherr (electric and acoustic guitars, background vocals), Tim Luntzel (bass), and Kenny Wollesen (drums, percussion, vibraphone, and marimba). Harris sings about life, day-dreams, memories of by-gone days and relationships gone right and then wrong. All of the album's 12 tracks are extremely attainable, they all sound so familiar, yet they're fresh off the presses. If you're in the mood for something new yet familiar, kinda like an old comfortable sweater, this CD may fit you well.
