Juanes / Un dia normal

Colombian native Juanes has emerged as one of the most promising talents of Latin music. The singer/songwriter was the founding member of heavy metal band Ekhymosis and recorded several albums with his group. They became local favorites and enjoyed success but in 1999 Juanes decided to explore other types of music. He went to L.A., hooked up with a known producer and began to put together "Fijate Bien, which combined his vocal and guitar skills with latin music. Juanes received seven nominations for the 2001 Latin Grammy Awards, winning in three categories, one of them being "Best New Artist of The Year." His follow up to his acclaimed debut album is entitled "Un dia normal." The opening track "A Dios Le Pido" is an enjoyable listen. "Es Por Ti" has Juanes impressing listeners with his charming voice. "Luna" has a nice musical backdrop. "Mala Gente" has a cool guitar hook. Canada's own Nelly Furtado teams up with Juanes for a lovely duet entitled "Fotografia." "La Noche" is also an interesting blend of pop rock beats and Latin vibes. An artist to discover.
