What we have here is an eclectic album from an artist named Robin Holcomb. Her voice is distinct to say the least and obviously has a heavy accent. The music is a blend of various sounds that range from pop to rock. "Pretend" sounds dark. "Like I Care" is soft and easygoing. The singer and pianist gives a nice performance on the gentle "Sit Right Down." Her piano skills are good. "You Look So Much Better" is a soft rock tune and her vocals seem more folk oriented but the songs continue to follow in the initial genre. The pace picks up with "A Lazy Farmer Boy." Other distinct songs include "I Tried To Believe" and the title track "The Big Time."
