The Flaming Lips In Montreal

After a nine year hiatus from Montreal The Flaming Lips finally returned. Some of the Band's fans traveled from as far away as New Jersey, New York and ontario to be part of last night's merriment at the Metropolis. Hailing from Okalahoma City, The Flaming Lips are not your ordinary yarn of guys producing psychedelic music, oh no these guys are different and definitely worth the price of admission. If you were at the Metropolis last night you couldn't have missed the 20 odd animal costumed people waving flashlights at the crowd on both sides of the stage with robot statuettes next to them. The giant color screen behind the band beaming wonderful surreal images was perfectly in sync with the music. Bassist, Michael Ivins sporting tiger garb sat throughout the festivities while Wayne Coyne (singer, lyricist, and guitarist) generously distributed confetti and giant sized balloons into the packed house throughout their 90 minute set. Steven Drozd (guitars, keyboards, songwriter, and arranger) also dressed in a non-descript animal costume wailed magnificent guitar licks and keyboard riffs at the crowd. The band's music and performance put a smile on everyone's face, before, during and after the show.
