For anyone not familiar with Zucchero (because I certainly wasn't) he's the Italian incarnation of the classic rock star. A man graced with the velvet tones of a whisky voice, he excels at slow-tempo ballads and upbeat rock songs in Italian and English. This album is a great compilation that showcases Zucchero at his best teaming up with the best of North America's jazz and blues. Some of my favorite duets include the ones with Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Macy Gray and Solomon Burke. There is certainly no lack of talent recorded here, which makes this album one that can grace your CD player for continuous play sessions.
The final track is truly amazing, a powerful combination of Luciano Pavarotti and Andrei Bocelli with Zucchero. This type of musical talent deserves a listening ear and an appreciative audience. There is nothing anyone can say that would change my mind about such pure talent. The middle of the disk does not falter but offers great combinations including Sting, Sheryl Crow, Vanessa Carlton and so many others. This is a great CD to chill to, letting Zucchero's Italian accent smooths away your world weary troubles.
