Local legend, Frank Marino has released a live album worthy of his heroics."Real Live" opens with a great rendition of Jimi's Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile" just in case we still had any doubters out there. The solid rhythm section anchored by Josh Trager's drumming is relentlessly solid leaving Frank the room he needs to do what he does. What he does is blister for two hours. Standouts include a long and very moving jam in "He's Calling", an amazing rendition of concert favorite "Poppy" with a little medley in the middle of Santana's "She's Not There" into Cream's "Crossroads". Another stellar performance can be found on another crowd favorite "Strange Universe". These all qualify as anthems and all on one album. If I had one complaint it would be that Frank keeps his band on a tight leash having them just hold grooves. With such a great band behind him it is unfortunate they don't get a chance to shine. This one is a super bang for your buck and highly recommended for all of you that love good guitar driven rock and roll.
