With five releases under the title Ultra Chilled, the creators still manage to put out a great mix of lounge music here on volume 5. The range of artists on disc one is a great mix of talent, including a great classic jazz recording to open the disc. Frontin' really shows young Jamie Cullum's skills, a refreshing face in this age of jazz. Mr. Scruff and Lemon Jelly lay down yet again two more solid cuts, as we have come to expect from them. To keep you chilled all night Thievery Corporation lays down familiar background vibes with lo-fi vocals provided by Perry Farrell. Capitalizing on Ben Gibbard's success, Ultra Chilled adds another stellar Postal Service track for the second time in succession. To close out disc one, a wise choice was made by adding the legendary Nina Simone. The second disc starts off with two very beautiful vocal tracks by Moby and Erasure. Thievery is again heard tampering in the shadows of Wax Poetic and Norah Jones; a velvety smooth performance by all. This album is characterized by a wide array of styles, all united by their unique powers to chill. If you don't plan on getting out of bed for a while, toss this on and rest assured. You will not get up for a looooong time.
