Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir

This Montreal choir has done much in the past 23 years to do this city proud and by the sound of this CD they won't be stopping any time soon. The choir, which was founded and is directed by Trevor W. Payne, has performed for Nelson Mandela and Queen Elizabeth and played with Celine Dion, New Kids On The Block, Michael Bolton, and Foreigner. On this album they are backed by the Jubilation Big Band and feature vocalist Fontella Bass (legendary gospel and R&B singer who co-penned the huge hit 'Rescue Me') and guitarist Frank Marino (Mahogany Rush). There is a nice mix of traditional gospel music (including 'O Mary Don't You Weep' and 'A Soulful Hallelujah') and some non-gospel songs (cover of U2's 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' and Curtis Mayfield's 'People Get Ready'). Whatever Trevor W. Payne and the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir do it is always original, spiritual and makes you want to sing along. Catch the choir in their traditional pre-Christmas concerts at St. James United Church from December 9th through the 11th.
