Lately they have taken to calling this music legend the Belfast Cowboy and I can see why. It is Van Morrison's second album in a row that has a definite country sound to it. On this one he is covering classic country tunes from the 1950s to 1970s. He reinterprets songs from such country legends George Jones and Hank Williams Sr., includes three originals and remakes two non-country songs into country songs. After a listen what stays with you most is this artist's ability to make every song he does sound like he is the first person to sing it; he puts his unique stamp on everything he does. He is an artist that follows his heart and does not care what record labels think will sell. It is an interesting mix of country music with that distinctive Van Morrison voice.
