There is a little bit of everything from narration to weepy piano ballads to synthesizer pop on the latest Grandaddy album. Everything sounds slightly ethereal yet quite melodic. A strong album if you like the idea that the band seems to be recording their songs in outer space; they have a weird kind of 'other world' sound to them. The lead vocalist's (Jason Lytle) voice is filtered through with some distortion making it sound even more like the band is floating somewhere in space while playing. Their sound is really a mix of Pink Floyd and ELO. Rumor has it that the band has disbanded since recording this album so this might be the last chance you get to hear new material from them.
