Damn, there is a lot of music that comes out of this little country that we call home! Pilate is a band from Ontario whose second album is centered around the idea of what would happen if we all relinquished a little of our attempt to control everything that happens in our lives. The powerful vocals of lead singer Todd Clark coupled with the poignant lyrics on the album really create a 'mood'. You definitely get a sense of melancholy while listening to this band. It makes me wonder what has happened in their young lives to make them so sad? After awhile it almost becomes too much at certain points. I do find some of the tracks to be self-indulgent and too long, but, hey, no one is perfect. Pilate is the type of young band that has shown plenty of potential with just two albums. They will be playing at Le National on June 15, so check them out.
