The Panic Channel

The Panic Channel is a type of 'supergroup' made up of ex-members of such bands as Jane's Addiction, Porno for Pyros and Red Hot Chili Peppers. This type of membership carries heavy baggage and expectations indeed. For the most part I would have to say that these expectations are never reached. Someone has to wake up the members of The Panic Channel and alert them to the fact that the grunge movement is over, so they should not be recording any grunge if they expect to move discs. There is really nothing wrong with sounding 'retro', but they should pick a sound that is more appealing and less dead! Guitarist and reality show judge, Dave Navarro is a great guitar player and there is no denying his talent, but he rarely shows it on this album. The lyrics in many of the songs are…well, there is no other word for it but ridiculous. Lead singer Steve Isaacs is not the greatest vocalist and his weaknesses really stick out on this recording. Hopefully the band sticks together for another album and lives up to their potential.
