With this release we get to the 'softer' side of the lead singer of Australian hard rock outfit Powderfinger. Brian Fanning's solo outing is an alt-country album which varies from acoustic to plugged in arrangements. His emotive vocals really get to the heart of the lyrics and he's able to convey the emotion of the song through his voice. Many of the songs are about being hurt or lost, but to rescue it from the maudlin, the album subscribes to the 'Sun will come out tomorrow" line of thinking. Like many artists today, Fanning reaches way back to the 1970s for his source of inspiration soundwise. The album definitely sounds like it could have been recorded during that decade.
