This Cirque du Soleil show is about a clown who has a real dream about death. An 'up' subject I would say! Despite what you might expect the clown portion takes over and the music is surprisingly upbeat though there are some melancholic moments. The clown imagines his own funeral taking place at a festive parade. "Corteo" features a mixture of vocal/choral numbers (sung in French, Italian and Spanish) and acoustic sections. The music varies greatly from Klezmer music to Tango numbers. Listening to the CD you realize how important the music is in the Cirque du Soleil shows and how it contributes to transporting you to the 'world' they have created.
