If you are interested in listening to a young band that plays old-time country music, meaning it sounds nothing like Carrie Underwood, then check out The Gourds. By old-time country I mean a brand of country music that involves elements of rock, folk and blues music. There is plenty of fiddle, heartbreak and country bar music on this album. The album is equally divided between songs you can two-step to and those for slow dancing. A Cajun or Zydeco influence is apparent on several of the upbeat tunes and listening to them you'll just feel like 'Yee-hawing' your way through. Even if you are not a fan of this brand of music give the song "Promenade" a listen to and you'll have to admit it is a classic laying in wait.
