Blues artist Rory Block has had a lengthy career and on this album she performs a tribute to Son House that is from the heart. She has gone to great lengths to replicate the heart and soul that Son House put into the playing of his music. It is so close that at times you won't be able to believe that he himself is not playing on the album.
At different times while listening to this album you'll be alternately amazed by her vocal range and her ability to play the guitar. That poor guitar gets strum, plucked and slapped to within an inch of its life, but to very good results. This lady has been playing since the age of 10 and it shows. It is an album without any weak songs just fodder for debates over which is the best track.
