This album marks the third full length release for UK's Architects (not to be confused with the American rock band by the same name). The album opens up with intense by booming guitar riffs and bass lines on the song "Early Grave", a sound that will be revisited throughout the album. Front man Sam Carter's high pitched wails are brutal yet somehow comforting and relatable. Contrary to the band's dark and angry sound, there is a lot of emotional heft to this album. Carter even throws in occasional melodic vocals when least expected. Once again, Architects go beyond the usual realm of metal by using calculated instrumentals with odd time signatures and all around unpredictability. A definite must for all fans of the metal genre.
