During the 1990s Collective Soul was one of the bigger American alternative rock bands going. Hits like "Shine", "December", "The World I Know", and "Precious Declaration" made sure that they remained at the top of the charts for most of the decade. Beginning their career as an underground band that toured pubs to go on to play Woodstock (1994 and 1999) and then cross country arena tours was quite an accomplishment for this band from Georgia. They ended their killer decade with being named the most played band on radio.
The new millennium was not as kind to the band and they saw a sharp decrease in their popularity. The band was criticized for changing their sound to a more adult-oriented pop. This year started off well as they released their second self-titled album (9th studio album overall) and were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Now they are in the middle of a North American tour in support of said album.
