The year was 2008 and the legendary Stephen Stills played a concert at Shepherd's Bush that spanned his entire career. Thankfully someone thought to capture it both in CD and DVD format.
During the show he played both acoustically and with full band to change things up a bit. We get music from the Buffalo Springfield days, Crosby, Stills & Nash days, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young days, Stills and Young days, and finally, solo. If that is not enough he also covers a Bob Dylan tune then later a Tom Petty song. Only when you hear it all back to back to you realize what a full and influential career this man has had.
What I really noticed during the acoustic solo parts was what a marvelous guitar player Stills still is. Whether he is picking or strumming, it all sounds great. Another noticeable thing was how time has not been kind to his voice. Now it might seem cruel of me to say so as the man has been sick, but it is something you will hear. His guitar playing is top notch and it is a shame that his voice cannot follow along.
The DVD gives you the same exact lineup as the CD, but has a small intro from the man himself and during the credits Stills also talks about the set list.
