Over the past twenty years or so Alberta girl k.d. Lang has proven time and time again that she is one of Canada's best musical artists presently. And I do put emphasis on the word "artist". With her knack for interpreting songs in her own way, her artistic sensibilities and that great voice of hers she is the complete package.
On this 2-disc album we have 10 of her most famous songs and the other CD is filled with songs that have not appeared on any Lang album up until now. That means you get her interpretation of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Neil Young's "Helpless" and The Hollies "The Air That I Breath".
With the two discs you get to hear the (ongoing) evolution of an artist who started off with cowgirl punk music then moved on to pop and has now dabbled in Brazilian and jazz. The breadth of her career is impressive and the scale of her talent breath taking. This kind of variety in her recordings has and will continue to bring her a wide scale audience.
