Keyboardist Keith Emerson and bassist Greg Lake were part of the prog-rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Their shows used to be all about lengthy solos, huge stage props, laser lights, plenty of fog, and even flying keyboards. When they decided to reunite and tour this spring they agreed that none of that stuff would make it into the present shows.
The show at Place des Arts will not be the usual huge arena productions you've come to expect from these progressive-rock pioneers. It will be intimate and "unplugged". There will be plenty of playing, but there will also be plenty of talking about the songs and the stories behind them. Even some of the arrangements of their classic songs have been tinkered with and they will be presented in a new way. It is not everyday you get to be that up close and personal with rock legends.
The tour will feature music from Emerson, Lake and Palmer, King Crimson and The Nice. Tunes like "From the Beginning", "I Talk to the Wind" and "Lucky Man" will be played.
