For the second year in a row, students in Blue Ring, the honour society of Dawson students, has selected the Tony Proudfoot Fund of the ALS Society of Quebec as the beneficiary of this student-led event to benefit a charitable cause. Over the past 11 years, the event has raised more than $80,000 for mostly medical causes.
The event puts on display two dozen or so talented student-artists in the Fine Arts and Illustration & Design programs who create new works of art before a live audience, which are then auctioned off.
This year's edition takes place on Thursday, April 22, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Reception Hall (5B.16). For two hours, artists bring blank canvasses to life as guests mingle, eat and drink while the creative process unfolds before their eyes. At 8 p.m., the gavel drops as CTV television personality Rob Lurie starts the auction of the paintings.
Tickets to the event are $10 and everyone is welcome. Tickets are available at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, contact Mary DiLiello at (514) 931-8731 ext. 1207 or e-mail email@example.com.
