What can be said about a living rock legend who was one fourth of the group The Beatles? Well, plenty actually. First off and most importantly in this case – the show at the Bell Centre is sold out, which is not surprising considering the act and the fact that he has not played in Montreal for many a year.
Sir James Paul McCartney was born in June 1942 and has spent his lifetime as a singer, songwriter, musician, animal activist, poet, record executive, and painter. Not shabby, I'd say. He is probably the best known living musician and has been named by the people at the Guinness World Records as the most successful songwriter in pop music history. He started off his career with The Beatles and after they broke up assembled his own group called Wings then went on to record solo. All this plus he is thought to be the richest person in the UK with an estimated worth of £475 million.
At the age of 68 he continues to tour and play music. At a recent show in Toronto, McCartney kept the crowd enraptured by playing most of his best loved tunes like "All My Loving", "Drive My Car", "The Long and Winding Road", "Helter Skelter", "Lady Madonna", and "Get Back" over his 35 song set. Even though Montrealers have had to wait a very long time to see this guy play live it sounds like he is going to reward that patience.
