Gin Blossoms have forged on recording catchy pop tunes even after the death of group co-founder Doug Hopkins. Rob Wilson and Jesse Valenzuela write most of the band's tunes now. A sign that there is plenty of talent within the band.
This is a band that during the 90s met with incredible success, was nominated for Grammys and sold millions of albums. The new millennium has not been as kind to them. That would make "No Chocolate Cake" somewhat of a comeback for them as it is filled with catchy pop tunes and demonstrates that the incredible chemistry of the band is still there. It is the type of album that you can leave on and listen to several times over without ever growing bored of it.
