Montreal is going to host an NBA preseason game. The Toronto Raptors (Canada’s team?) will take on the New York Knicks. Roughly 21,000 tickets have already been sold for the game and it is an indication that Montrealers will show up for anything they feel is an “event”. It does not necessarily mean that this is a town that could support an NBA team, but the odd game or two would do okay.
Neither team is one of the stronger ones in the NBA and would be considered to be in rebuilding phases. The Raptors are led by their point guard Jose Calderon who have to get plenty of support from the likes of guard Leandro Barbosa, centre/forward Andrea Bargnani, and rookie forward Ed Davis. The Knicks will be built around the newly signed free agent forward/centre Amar’e Stoudemire. He is surrounded with the likes of rookie forward Patrick Ewing Jr., centre Eddy Curry and guard Roger Mason Jr.
