March 25, 2011 @ L’Olympia
Born in the U.S. this frontman of the group Wilco is touring solo and the tour is coming to Montreal. Tweedy is an artist that I’ve always thought of as a honourary Canadian. His music and on stage demeanour just seems very Canadian.
Gaining notoriety due to some commercial and critical success with Wilco, Tweedy was initially influenced by punk and country music; he has now drifted to a more experimental sound and themes. The fact that he is a recovering drug addict and been diagnosed as clinically depressed and suffering from panic attacks and migraines has really coloured his music.
On his solo tours he usually plays his varying styled music acoustically. His voice has been described as nasally, emotional and scratchy. There has been the odd comparison to Neil Young thrown about.
