Around since 1997 this California-based band presently features Josh Homme (guitar/lead vocals), Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar), Joey Castillo (drums), Michael Shuman (bass), and Dean Fertita (keyboards/guitar). Their particular brand of rock is on the heavy side and really focuses on guitar riffs. The guitar riffs happened repetitively over and over on many of their songs. It sounds very much like the male-oriented no frills rock of the 70s. Over the course of the existence of the band their sound has evolved and begun to incorporate more influences like ZZ Top, blues and grunge.
Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 1998, QOTSA has been a Josh Homme driven vehicle with him remaining the constant and the rest of the lineup changing frequently. They have had such high profile guest contributions as Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) on drums, Matt Cameron (Soundgarden and Pearl Jam) on drums, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) on vocals, and Rob Halford (Iron Maiden) on vocals.
The band has pretty much toured constantly opening up for the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails as well as playing at large festivals like Ozzfest.
This general admission show is for all ages, but unfortunately it is sold out.
