You’ll recognize the name as Jeff Martin used to be the frontman for the popular Canadian rock band The Tea Party then went on to record some solo stuff after they broke up. Now he is back with a trio comprised of himself on vocals and guitar, Malcolm Clark on drums and J Cortez on bass. Both Martin’s bandmates are Aussies and Clark is reputedly something to see on the drums.
The band has just released its first album, “The Ground Cries Out”, which is made up of 11 tracks that are at times eerie, toe tapping, groovy, and mesmerizing while always being vivid. You can still hear the influence of Martin’s favourite band, Led Zeppelin, everywhere in the band’s sound. There is still plenty of mysticism, history and philosophy in the lyrics of the songs as Jeff Martin likes to show that he is a well read human being. Whatever your opinion is of that there is no denying that the man definitely knows how to construct a song. The potential intricacies of music are not beyond Jeff Martin.
On this tour you can expect to hear many Tea Party songs fill out the setlist as the band only has one album.
