While you have to be able to conjure enough emotion and energy to be able face off against someone in a boxing ring and continue to punch them for 12 rounds, there is something extra going to go on in this second much anticipated fight between Montreal’s own Jean Pascal and the ageless Bernard Hopkins. They have been trash talking and attempting to intimidate the other since the final bell of their first fight. Tension has been building and building.
The first fight between the two was declared a draw even though many felt Hopkins had won and that allowed Pascal, the younger of the two boxers by almost 20 years, to retain the belt. It was one of the most talked about fights of 2010. Those who watched it still fight over who won. It was a no-brainer that there would be a rematch.
This is not a fight between two rookies without any real talent. Jean Pascal is the WBC and Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight Champion and Hopkins is a former World Champion in two weight classes plus will certainly be inducted into the boxing hall of fame after he retires. It is another World Championship bout.
The undercard features former World Champion light heavyweights Chad Dawson and Adrian Diaconu plus other bouts.
