Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Millions and millions of women worldwide have Bieber Fever. They are of all ages and just can’t get enough of the teenager pop star.  To feed their frenzy the team around Bieber keep putting out stuff on the boy wonder.  This past winter a film was released that gave us a look behind the curtain.

A biopic that reveals much about his 16 years on this Earth. How he showed a natural talent early on learning to play the drums himself, bringing his guitar to a downtown corner in small-town Stratford, Ontario and busking to entering in local singing competitions.  Justin and his mother Pattie decided to post some videos on YouTube to allow family members see and hear him singing.  Those videos captured the attention of many including Scooter Braun of So So Def Records.  Braun knew immediately that the boy had that “it” factor and was going somewhere.

Braun was right. A week after discovering the teen sensation he had him singing for R&B star Usher.  Usher also recognized his talent and brought him for an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid of Island Records.  He was signed to the label and Braun officially became his manager.

Even before he had finished recording his first album, his first single was shooting up the charts.  “One Time” made it to number 12 on the Canadian Hot 100.  The phenomenon had begun.  After the release of his debut album, “My World”, he began to make the rounds and it was certified Double Platinum in Canada and Platinum in the U.S.

By the time his massive hit single “Baby” was released off “My World 2.0” Justin Bieber was one of the biggest pop acts on the planet.  The film tracks the lead up to a series of sold-out shows that Justin Bieber was doing at New York’s Madison Square Garden.  A benchmark for any performer.

Never Say Never was directed by Step Up 3D director Jon M. Chu.  He definitely knows how to shoot the concert from the best possible angles. It highlights Bieber’s talent, good hair, dance moves, and great smile. He also kept it to a length that is pleasing to those of us who are not über fans.  At 1 hour 45 minutes it is long enough, but did not drag on.

Special Features:
