More fun than a barrel of inbred cannibalistic hillbillies! It is not often you read this, but how else would you start a review of a film like Wrong Turn 4? If you have seen the other three Wrong Turn films you know what you are going to get here. (I hate to be redundant) Lots of inbred cannibalistic hillbillies, of course!
It is winter break time and a bunch of friends decide that they are going to go on a snowmobiling excursion. They are having fun, but a storm hits and they make (you guessed it) a wrong turn ending up lost. With the storm getting even worse and having no idea how to get back they decide to ride out the storm inside an abandoned sanatorium (mistake number one). They are happy that they found the place and are now out of the storm though quickly the whole thing gets a little frightening.
As you would naturally expect the sanatorium has a bit of a checkered past (what sanatorium doesn’t?) and some of the former residents still live there. Naturally, they are hiding out and are not happy about their new “guests”. Now the college coeds are in a fight for their very lives.
Cheesy blood, some gratuitous sex scenes, masks, and gore are what you get here. A true B film and not the good kind. Rather awful, actually. I know going into a horror film that you have to suspend reality a little, but this one pushed that too far. Behaviours that are against common sense happen left, right and centre. I was rolling my eyes constantly when I wasn’t laughing at the ridiculousness of it all.
Declan O’Brien (director), you should be ashamed of yourself!!
