Canadian treasure (my unbiased opinion) Jann Arden released a cover album entitled Uncover Me in 2007. This was her best selling album in a decade. Now four years later she has followed it up with part two and more covers. Uncover Me 2 (logical title) features 12 tracks produced by the legendary Bob Rock. Arden gives her own spin to well known and loved songs like “Only the Lonely” (The Motels), “Dreams” (Fleetwood Mac) and “Que Sera Sera” (Doris Day). The choices of songs covered are interesting in that they are not atypical. They are quite eclectic. Not many artists could get away with and be taken seriously for covering songs by KISS, John Denver, Frank Zappa, and ABBA on the same album. With each cover she brings a little Jann to them (humour and wit) while still doing them justice emotionally. If there is one thing that Miss Arden does well it is emotion. There is one original song written by Jann Arden called “Mr. McLennan”.
