Snow Village Preview

From the beginning of the 2012 until the end of March the city of Montreal will be recreated in ice and snow on the grounds of Parc Jean Drapeau.  Snow villages have existed around Europe for about a decade now and Montreal is the first place in North America to have one.  Conveniently located just a three minute walk from Jean-Drapeau metro station, the Snow Village is very accessible.

The city will include an Ice Hotel, which is available for overnight stays, a restaurant that can hold up to 60 patrons, a bar with terrace with space for 250 customers, an ice chapel where couples can get married, and a convention centre.  There are also other buildings and monuments that you will recognize from around Montreal.  A different city will be recreated every year.

Besides going there for the fun and to check out the architectural wonders (best seen during the day and the sunlight) there are a number of special events being planned.  Examples of this include, Montreal Canadiens hockey nights, outdoor evening dancing with guest DJs, a snow maze, and live music.
