Lead singer and guitarist Josh Homme is one of the last of a dying breed. Rockers who are loud, greasy and overtly masculine. He flaunts what he is and makes no apologies for it. His name says it all he is a man’s man. The music that he and his band (he is the only remaining original member left) have made for six albums now is straight forward, no special effects rock and roll. It is loud and it is intense. Just as you would expect it to be. He even has his pal and kindred soul Dave Grohl step in and drum on five of the ten tracks of …Like Clockwork. Besides Grohl there are expected guests like Trent Reznor and Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys as well as some change ups like Elton John and Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. It is the band’s first album in roughly six years and they come out much like an animal that had been caged for that length of time. Many of the guitar riffs are spectacular and show off Homme’s talent.
