Fringe Park Opening

The St. Amboise Fringe Festival is upon us once again and it will kick off with a musical bang.  To help celebrate the opening of the festival a musical evening including the talents of Ira Lee and Skinny Brothers and Friends is sure to be a fun time.

Ira Lee has released eleven albums all by his lonesome. He is a combination of an unusual voice and introspective lyrics.  His songs explore issues such as race and social justice.  A native of Regina, Ira lived in Calgary, Toronto and Winnipeg before moving to Montreal in 2008.  Once here he began recording music in French.  Impressively, Ira became the first rap artist to get support from the Canadian Council for the Arts.  His set begins at 7 p.m.

Skinny Brothers are actual brothers.  Paul and Christopher Cargnello have been playing together for 25 years. Proficient in many a musical genre you can hear tinges of jazz, R&B, soul, hip hop and even punk within their songs.  Their set, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature special guests like DJ Shash’U, The Frontline, Jai Nitai Lotus, Karma Atchyka, Jonathan Emile, and Julien Cargnello.
