Each year since 2006 this festival has become bigger and bigger. The minds behind it have made the music more accessible to the masses of fans and that has brought them bigger numbers. Bigger numbers equals more profits and more profits equal more money to attract big acts the following year. In recent years they have been able to attract mega acts like Coldplay, Jason Mraz, The Black Keys, Devo, Snoop Dogg, Arcade Fire, and Weezer while still bringing hot indie acts like Robyn, Hey Rosetta!, Lykke Li, The Stills, and Beast.
This year’s line up continues what they have started with the mixing of big commercial acts like Mumford & Sons, The Cure, Miguel, Ellie Goulding, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Beck, and New Order with more alternative musical selections like Alt-J, Silversun Pickups, Jessie Ware, Hannah Georgas, The Lumineers, Kendrick Lamar, Raine Maida, Corb Lund, and Flogging Molly.
When you come to see all these great acts live remember a couple of things: Travel by public transportation (Yellow line – stop Jean Drapeau), bring a chair or blanket to sit on, a clear plastic water bottle filled with water, a small umbrella in case of rain, sunscreen, and a non-SLR camera to take pictures. Most of all bring plenty of energy because you are going to need it with this many quality artists performing.
They have announced that tickets are all sold out for the three days so you’ll have to use alternative routes if you want to get one at this point.
