Lock up your women! John Legend is back. This guy is a charmer. A talented charmer, but a charmer nonetheless. With his latest album, Love in the Future, he adds to his already impressive catalogue of baby making songs. Bringing on board Kanye West as the executive producer does nothing to dull his sexy powers. To his credit Kanye actually adds some interesting layers to the already winning John Legend sound. There is track after track of slow to mid tempo piano songs of the type we’ve come to identify with this artist. There are little experiments with heavy bass or edgy guitar on a couple of tracks but nothing too crazy. Well-written, some thought behind the crafting of the songs and a timeless sound. If I was to make one small criticism it is that no song on the album ventures out of Legend’s comfort zone.
