Thirty Seconds to Mars Aim to Entertain

Blink and fifteen years will pass.  That is how long rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars from Los Angeles has been together.  Fronted by actor Jared Leto, the band is made up of Leto (vocals/guitar), Shannon Leto (drums/percussion) and Tomo Milicevic (guitar/bass/keyboards).  The two brothers have been playing music together since they were young boys, so it has been a natural progression for them to form a band together.

Many have slagged the band because of Jared Leto.  Meaning that not many take a band seriously that has a successful actor as their lead singer.  To do so is superficial and false in the case of this band.  Plus Jared Leto does not use his status as an actor to promote the band.  They take what they do seriously.  Besides their first release, 2002’s 30 Seconds to Mars, each of the four albums they have released has obtained critical and commercial success.  So far they have sold over 10 million albums.

Stylistically their sound has been created via a fusion of several different styles of music.  Some have compared the band to The Cure, Pink Floyd and U2.  Best way to describe it is a mix of synth rock, metal and progressive rock.  Mainstream is not something they do as most of their music has been experimental in nature.  Their lyrics are up for interpretation and contain a philosophical slant.  Spirituality is also an important facet of their music.

They are known for their live shows.  On stage they are full of energy.  Over the years they have toured with the likes of Billy Talent, I Mother Earth, Our Lady Peace, and Audioslave.

The October 1st date was sold out but via their Twitter account Evenko stated that they had released a few more tickets.  They have to be purchased over the phone or at the venue.  In other words they are not available online.
