If you are a fan of 80s synth based pop music then check out this band. They have a true felling for it and don’t seem like they are just cashing in on a musical trend. Retro is cool but this is not what they are about. Each and every track on this album feels legit and organically created. Hailing from Scotland the electropop trio is led by female vocalist Lauren Mayberry and she has a voice that can easily deal with the intense lyrics set before her. Her voice is strong and she is able to convey the emotions found within the songs. Whether required to be sweet and light or dark the lady and her voice are both up to the task. The boys (Iain Cook and Martin Doherty) behind her provide the meat and bones of their sound. Don’t dismiss this as just another mindless bunch of dance music as there is plenty of depth to be found. Enough so they stand out from the rest of the bunch. It all adds up to a collection of songs that you can listen to over and over and not get tired of. The songs on this are the bones of what they believe and what I believe is that they are talented and make good music.
