Three Days Grace Live

A band like Three Days Grace must be thankful that they came to life as a band at a time where hard rock music was popular. After first getting together under the group name of Groundswell in 1992, the Ontario rock band exploded right out of the gates with their first single, “I Hate Everything About You” in 2003. Their alt-metal sound was lapped up by rock fans.  As unfortunately what happens in many rock bands addiction soon reared its ugly head.  Lead singer Adam Gontier became addicted to Oxycontin.  While in rehab Gontier penned some songs for the band’s next album, One-X, which was released in 2006.  The album went on to become a big seller in Canada and the U.S.  The first single “Animal I Have Become” became the most played rock song in Canada in 2006.

After the release of their fourth full-length album in 2012, Transit of Venus, the band announced that Adam Gontier was leaving the band due to health issues.  It is speculated that addiction once again was the issue.  Gontier has since gone on to form another band. Matt Walst of My Darkest Days took over the lead vocals, but has not been named as the permanent replacement.  The band is currently working on a new album.

Over the course of their career Three Days Grace has toured with the likes of Chevelle, Nickelback, Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, and My Darkest Days.
