Rod Stewart has been a musician for around 50 years. Over the course of his career he has sold upwards of 250 million albums and singles. Plus he has earned 16 Grammy nominations and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. In other words he has had a career few others have managed in regards to success and longevity.
With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Rod Stewart has made his mark on rock and pop music for decades. It all began in the late 1960s with The Jeff Beck Group and then he moved on to the more commercially successful Faces. Soon afterwards he then released his first solo album in 1969 called The Rod Stewart Album. While he focused mostly on blues music with The Jeff Beck Group his solo work featured a variety of musical styles from rock to R&B. Success continued for Stewart through the 70s and 80s. Now he has moved on to releasing albums that feature him interpreting some of the best known songs from the American songbook – in other words, classic songs from times of yore.
Rolling Stone magazine has ranked Rod Stewart at the 17th most succesfful artist on the Billboard Top 100, Q Magazine ranked him the 33rd best singer of all time, and Rolling Stone ranked him 59th best singer of all time. The accolades, sold out concerts, platinum records, and awards have piled up and don’t seem to be stopping.
