Fans of art and film get to come together during the eleven days of FIFA. Not the soccer organization, rather a Montreal based film festival of films on art. The 32nd edition of FIFA brings with it plenty of innovation, excitement, creativity, and boldness.
Thirty-four countries will enter films in FIFA totaling 270 films being screened. In its quest to be truly an international festival this year for the first time films from Lebanon, Bolivia and Serbia will be presented. Besides the films the festival also offers special events, roundtable discussions, exhibitions, and master classes. For the 4th year aimed at filmmakers and those within the industry there will be the Market of Film on Art. The mandate of the festival is to educate the public on the variety of art mediums out there, promote the work of different artists, encourage the production of films on art, and recognize filmmakers and artists.
This year FIFA has established a partnership with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. As a result, it has taken up residency in the MMFA.
The range and scope of the films is mind boggling. Films on painting, music, clothes designing, architecture, animation, comics, literature, gardens, museums, dance, mime, poetry, and cooking are just a few examples of the subjects of films your can take in.
