South African Heavy Metal Comes in the Form of Seether

seether live2South Africa is not necessarily known as a hot bed for internationally successful metal bands and yet a good one comes from that country.  Seether, originally called Saron Gas, was formed in 1999 in Pretoria and have gone on to forge a commercially successful career for fifteen years.

It all started to go well when they changed the band name to Seether and in 2002 released the album Disclaimer.  Out of it came the hit single “Fine Again” and they followed that up in 2004 with another winner with “Broken”.  Number one singles on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart continued with “Remedy”, “Fake It” and “Country Song”.  Soundwise they have been greatly influenced by 90s Grunge music and bands like Nirvana and Alice in Chains.  Other influences include Nine Inch Nails and Deftones.

Since 2002 the band has been on the road continuously bringing their live show to fans worldwide.  They have toured with the likes of Nickelback, 3 Doors Down and Evanescence.
