Canadian rock band that got together in 1994 under the guidance of Ian Thornley, Big Wreck are weathered music veterans now 20 years later. Due to Thornley leaving often to record solo material the band has only released 4 albums over the two decades, however. Their latest is entitled Ghosts and was released this past summer.
As is the case with many Canadian bands they are much more successful in their native land than they are in the U.S., but they did score a hit with their debut single, “The Oaf”. Subsequent stuff was hindered by label troubles and lack of marketing though it did do well in Canada. All this trouble led to tension within the band and a breakup in 2001.
Missing each other terribly (ok, that is a guess on my part) they got back together in 2010. In short order the album Albatross was released in 2011. Single releases and cross Canada tours ensued.
